8th Rosalyn Tureck International Bach Competition

Congratulations to John Samuell (USA, 13) for receiving the Kern Foundation “Aspiration” Award at the 8th Rosalyn Tureck International Bach Competition, held in July 2025 in New York City.

John delivered a remarkable performance of J.S. Bach’s Toccata in C minor, BWV 911, projecting a vivid sense of character across its contrasting sections and allowing each musical idea to unfold with natural inevitability. The fugal passages especially highlighted his excellent control and brilliant fingerwork.
